Skuzapo Broadband is a wireless regional area network (WRAN) that utilizes the UHF television band of the radio spectrum to provide wireless broadband service. A WRAN offers a wider coverage area relative to other wireless standards. A WRAN cell can cover an approximate radius of 30-40 km, compared to less than 100m for Wi-Fi and 5-10 km for WiMax. The network's design standard is to provide a minimum level of service of between 1.0 and 1.5 Mbps download per 1Mhz of bandwidth used. It is most ideal for large rural areas with small communities and settlements. A large coverage area with less base stations, results in a lower equipment costs, and hence lower service costs for the subscriber. Ideal for providing universal service to areas not currently served.
